In 1992 a group of young entrepreneurs, with a passion to utilize technology as an enabler for driving positive change in their community, established Computer Network Systems Limited (CNS). Over the following 30 years CNS has grown into a multinational organisation providing services world over, but we are committed to continuing to anchor ourselves to that original mission, just now to do so on a global scale.

With over 700 employees across three continents, CNS enjoys a global reach which has served to sharpen our ongoing commitment to act as an agent of change. As a provider of e-government solutions to a number of government agencies worldwide we understand that the impact of CNS on our society is rooted at the heart of the work that we do. As such, CNS is committed to an approach to business is aligned with maximising social outcomes. Seeking to combine such an approach to business with CNS philanthropic project we recognise that businesses are economic actors which impact the communities that they operate in. CNS subscribes to the philosophy that businesses must orientate their activities as economic actors in a way that delivers positive changes to their communities.

Krishnakathi village in southern Bangladesh is an example of what can be achieved by adhering to this philosophy. Since the 1990’s, CNS has funded a number of social programmes in Krishnakathi including the construction and operation of a school, the laying of new roads which have enhanced commercial activity of the village, and the building of a number of dwellings to provide adequate housing. These programmes have had a transformative impact on the local community and demonstrate what an effective and supported Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy can deliver.

In an effort to collate, organise and direct our existing social commitments and programmes, such as the delivery of the philanthropic programmes in Krishnakathi, the Board of Directors (BoD) of CNS passed a Board Resolution on the 10th of April 2023 to adopt a formal Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy. The CNS CSR Policy strives to achieve the following objectives:

  • Organize our business practices and project management processes to deliver Digital Transformation in a way that empowers stakeholders at every level of the community;

  • Actively support the fulfilment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) adopted by Member States in an effort to drive sustainable economic and social progress;

  • Resolve to carry out an annual Environmental Audit (EA) of the company and ensure that the recommendations from the EA are implemented, creating a more environmentally sustainable CNS;

  • Maintain fair business practices and a positive workplace culture to ensure that all employees, contractors, and affiliates of CNS work in safe, productive, and valued environments while being protected from any form of discrimination;

  • Uphold our commitment to allocate 10 percent of net profits per annum to philanthropic causes.
  • The CSR Policy, including the objectives adopted, aims to build upon this existing base of philanthropic and company-wide social activities in order direct ongoing, as well as future efforts, towards defined quantifiable outcomes. The adopted CSR Policy sets out governance procedures for the company’s activities going forward in order to ensure that our commitment to the communities we serve is not only measurable, but clearly achieved.The CSR Policy, including the objectives adopted, aims to build upon this existing base of philanthropic and company-wide social activities in order direct ongoing, as well as future efforts, towards defined quantifiable outcomes.
